ACTIVITIES REPORT

ADMISSION COMMITTEE: during the two semesters of 2007 we maintained a number of 119 scholarship recipients in several institutions of basic and higher education within the region, as well as in the city of Chihuahua and the neighboring city of El Paso, Texas. Out of the 61 students in their first semester, 10 were new scholarships and of the 58 students in second semester, 11 were new scholarships.

During the year of 2007 a total of $1,016,430 pesos were given, matching the sum of $489,280 towards first semesters and $527,150 for second semesters. With this amount we reached $7.5 million pesos or $765 thousand dollars given out for scholarships in 20 years of operation.

It is important to observe that during this second semester, it was the beginning of scholarships for English classes, the same with which we mean to reach out to 100% of the recipients or those who will need it. The purpose of this program is to increase what students receive in scholarships funds and urge them to learn a language that presently is predominant around the world. There were 7 students who benefited from this program.

We appreciate and are grateful for the support of ADC Foundation without which it would not have been possible to attain the number of students we presently have.

Student Contacts: in past semesters, a student's class list was turned in to members of this committee for a means of contacting their professors who impart different classes and in this way be able to receive the information presented from professors to students which is also given in their evaluations.

Advancement Committee: apart from the efforts and tediousness of obtaining sponsors to finance our existing programs such as scholarships, cultural seasons, maintaining operations, etc., a series of meetings and grouping different sectors of industry and construction were organized with the end result in mind of acquiring all of the construction plans for our new office building. This implied that we had to organize additional meetings with other companies and particulars who had never been involved in our programs before, but who knew of our activities through out trajectory. We also want to point out that for two consecutive years out Annual Golf Tournament was successfully held through the faithful support of AON given that they took full control of the financial assets, allowing the Mascareñas Foundation to receive $26,350 dollars from sponsors and registered supporters for the new scholarship programs in the United States.

Cultural Activities Committee: the year of 2007 for Matices Culturales became one of the more resonating cultural programs given to the step forward we took in presenting our cultural season in the Paso Del Norte Cultural Center and with the support of media companies who publicly announced the buying of cultural season tickets as well as particular tickets for each event. Our season itself reached out to 8,388 spectators for the events, resulting in an amount of 1,199 attendants for each activity or 69% of the theatre's seating capacity of 1,750 seats.

The same as with our past season, this year we presented in the city of Chihuahua as part of their "Galas de Noche" with the support of the Chihuahua City Institute of Culture under the direction of Mr. Jesus Avalos Portillo. We thank the Mayor of Chihuahua and his team for believing in our program and presenting it to their constituents.

For 2008, we have gathered a season consisting of 8 presentations, one more than the last year, with a distribution of artistic expressions that the public of Juarez can enjoy. The selling of season tickets has been promoted and we have managed to sell season tickets, meaning there is no more space on first level seating. We wish to sincerely thank our new sponsors and program attendants because without them we could never grow. Thanks to their generosity ad support, our community receives cultural entertainment for their families.

Public Relations and Special Events Committee: during 2007 this active group of volunteers was busy coordinating the everyday efforts of promoting the relations between organization volunteers, while organizing two events of high importance for our permanent fundraising campaign for our organization: the Annual Pro-
Scholarship Golf Tournament and Expoarte.

The Mascareñas Foundation's Eleventh Annual Golf Tournament was organized in the Juarez Campestre Country Club, where we managed to attract 110 golfers from our city, the neighboring city of El Paso, and the city of Chihuahua; we were able to increase the number of sponsors but here the significant help came from AON's sponsorship of the event. The registration resources and sponsoring are integrated into the treasury. The same resources apply to students from Juarez who attend the University of Texas at El Paso and El Paso Community College. Our grateful thanks go to Fernando Herrera of AON and its able-bodied staff for all the support and resources provided towards the organization of the event. We wish to thank Mr. Dean Jones and his support staff for all their attentions we received before and during the tournament celebration.

Expoarte: was dedicated this year to the beautiful city of Guadalajara, the pearl of the west, for its cultural, artistic and gastronimical richness. We established a good team with the help of the Office of Economic Promotion from the city of Guadalajara, and the event slowly became refined and throughout the year every detail made the event grow to the satisfaction of all attendees who left very motivated, as well as with the local communication networks. The event attracted, for the first time in six editions of existence, more than 600 visitors from our city and from El Paso, who enjoyed a splendid exposition of paintings, ceramics, jewelry and clothing that grew to the public's satisfaction.

The dinner was prepared by Chef Jean Louis Peres and his workforce who left attendants with a very pleasing impression; we also wish to thank wineries Casa Madero and Buena Fe from Parras de la Fuente, Coahuila who along with Mundo Cuervo with their delicious Margarita cocktails gave the perfect complement to the delicious plates prepared by Jean Louis.

Communications Committee: with the purpose of promoting our change of theatre from the University Theatre to Paso Del Norte Cultural Center, we approached a local advertising agency known as Centro Publicitario, in order to define with them the campaign that would use the electronic and print media. A series of insertions were chosen that were used to announce our cultural season as well as to promote the selling of our season tickets. The campaign was successful since we had great turnouts in all our events. We also contacted the services of spectacular posters and promotional fences.

We must make clear that announcements made by the local networks before and after the cultural events were more extensive and generous, motive for us to offer our deepest appreciation for all who gave their support.

With the purpose of always being updated with information that is posted on the internet, throughout the year we are realizing changes to our webpage which contains all the details necessary for someone interested in accessing or informing themselves about our organization and programs. It is also important to point out that scholarship recipients and those interested in obtaining a scholarship can download everything they need from our webpage and turn everything in by e-mail directly to our organization.
